Day 7: Tourists in Masaya

Today was our last full day in Nicaragua, and an opportunity to see a little more of the country like a tourist. We stopped at Masaya Volcano and at the top we were able to see an active lava flow. This flow is new as of January this year, so we were pretty excited that we got to see it. The wind was just right to let us snap a few photos.

From there we had lunch at a beautiful spot overlooking the lake. The breeze was a welcome break to the heat and we enjoyed the time to reminisce over the last few days we spent serving together.

Then it was off to some shopping! The open-air market in Mayasa was huge, and we spent a long time visiting the vendors and checking out the offerings, deciding on the perfect souvenirs or gifts. Finally, we checked in to our Managua hotel, and had to say a very tough goodbye to our amazing driver. He had been with us since the first day and he has the biggest heart! We were so lucky and blessed to have him with us all week.   As we finish packing for the trip home tomorrow, we are all reflecting on the highlights of the trip and the women and kids who touched our hearts. We are grateful and humbled for the opportunity to have come to Nicaragua. All of us from different places and in different moments in our lives were able to come together as one. We will always cherish this time and the people we have met and we pray that the seeds planted in God's name will continue to find nourishment and grow, both in them and in us.
